Since it was a scrimmage they weren't using the scoreboard, but when I left Tennessee High had scored six touchdowns and Union had scored none.

That's not a good sign with everyone that THS lost last year.

Several TD's were scored against the second and third teams who appeared to be getting introduced to the forward pass. Yes, it was really was that bad; it got to the point they were just running streaks down the middle of the field and multiple receivers were open by 10 yards.

Lung, I agree though; you have to do better than that. The only reason I gave them a C+ is because I can never remember winning a scrimmage or even looking good over there, that includes the period from 03-06 when we were actually competitive at the region/state level.

Well I guess they've had an extra week of practice in Tn haven't they? That would make some difference this early.

    Nice vid

Honistly I thought that they looked pretty good (The Run D looked good and I think the Pass D will get better (You don't game plan for a controlled scrimmage and it is tough to defend the spread with a base D)

Offence looks good personnel wise but the OLine needs work of they are going to be a dominat team (granted the THS D Line MAY have just been awesome but I do not think anyone knows at this point)

Union definately seemed to be struggling at the defensive secondaries. They seem to have a nice run game when they are able to break through the gaps. I was impressed with #11 running the ball for Union. The video only shows him carry the ball three times and he must have had 30+ yards. #2 broke away for a nice carry also. Good luck Bears.

from what l see, Union is going to be deep at the runnign back spot. Barker is a mule and Davis can move, but those two second string boys looked dang tough too (number 76 and 15). Passing needs some work on both d and o but thatll come with time. I dont see anyone blowing them off the field this year not even richlands. The rush D is tougher than i was expecting but the D backs need to stick on recievers a little better. Over all in that performance I'll have to give em a B-

    1. pass to #29
2 Michael Fersner on a jet sweep
    3. pass to #21
    4. pass to #34
    5. pass to #19
    6 pass to Adrian Lavergne

THS scored six touchdowns before the scrimmage concluded and they turned around on a couple of drives. If #21 and #34 are on the second team, hopefully they'll be rotated in on the 1st string. Too much speed to not use them. #2 for Union looked good when he was able to get past the line. A couple of numbers mentioned on the other page also impressed me.

A question left unanswered for me is the THS secondary. Union didn't throw enough to get an accurate picture. THS also appeared to half difficulty running between the tackles. That may be because the heaviest back is only 150. This offense will probably be most effective running on the edge or throwing. Get several of those fast players in open space and they're a threat to score every time. The defense gang tackled on almost every play. Aside from the question about the secondary, I think a team that would give THS fits would probably be one with a big line and physical players; a team that will try to pound it down their throat.

Both teams should be fine when the season begins. Rarely see any of the teams that Union plays (except Virginia High once a year). I did see some Lee coaches heading into the Stone Castle to scout Union.
